This is one of the most prestigious seaside resorts of south Finistère situated at the mouth of the estuary of the river Odet. Benodet has a super south facing beach and a large harbour used by pleasure boats. One of the more famous visitors to Benodet was the French poet Guillaume Apollinaire who was wounded in The Great War and who came here to recover from a head wound in 1917. He was charmed by this delightful little town and made various references to Benodet in his poetry and personal letters all of which extol the virtues of this small port.Toay Benodet is a very popular tourist resort and receives a huge influx of visitors each summer. However in spite of this it retains a great deal of charm and the town and the verdant countryside around offer the visitor a wide range of activities.
