One of the principal French fishing ports, Concarneau is also an important holiday resort which has developed around the Ville-close, an old fortified town dating back to the 15th century and modified by Vauban in the 17th.
One of the main towns in the area, Concarneau has 20,000 inhabitants and offers well-equipped all year round commercial and sporting facilities. The imposing ramparts shelter the yachting marina which has the main advantage of being situated adjacent to the town centre.

In a well sheltered bay, Concarneau offers several safe and sandy beaches. In the heart of the town, the fishing port is very lively especially in the morning.

Everyday in the indoor market, fresh fish, lobster, fruit and vegetables can be found by even the most demanding of customers. Don’t miss the colourful and varied open-air market which takes place in front of the Ville-close on Mondays and Fridays (8am until 1pm).
