BIRDS LISTED AS SEEN BY MR W.A.STUART AT KERHOTTEN 8TH-15TH AUGUST
An excellent holiday all together, good accommodation, good countryside, very interesting places to visit, very good beach at Carnac stones of course! My hobby, bird watching has been well satisfied and a good species list will be produced.
W. A. Stuart, Devon.
Thank you Bill
We just stayed at the Farmhouse Cottage, there is a beautiful pool there which we really enjoyed- the owner Jackie was helpful and could not have done any more for us. It is situated right next to a lovely lake, very safe and great for walking around, it is really family friendly. The accommodation we stayed in is spacious and is a beautiful rustic french farmhouse. There is so much amazing wildlife- we saw Ki-dours (otters!), but you need to be up so see them, between 6-am! There is a beautiful nature reserve with a raised wooden walk way through it, with frogs, bats and so many birds! There is a small town, Gueneme, a 15 minute drive away which has everything from cafes, restaurants, supermarkets etc. There is loads to do in the area- lots of local markets, visit Pontivy, also great lakes, mountain biking, canoeing......its all there, amazing.

Brittany is heaven, time stands still. Oak trees have blessed us, we feel small but lucky to be here. Needless to say the house you provided is all we needed. The kids slept like roes. Thanks to Jackie and Alan for advice and assistance. We are sorry not to have met Garry, we felt his spirit around. We took beautiful walks, we swam in the lakes and enjoyed the animals. At night we enjoyed a good meal with a view of the lake.
Jackie Alan and Garry thanks for this setting and keep up the spirit!

What an amazing place. We loved it. It was so great to spend a relaxing week in the Chestnut cottage, very lovely indeed.
Thank you Jackie & Alan you are amazing hosts.
Fran and Steve and Guests.
We spent one week at Chestnut Cottage; a group of five adults spanning three generations. When we arrived we were warmly greeted by Jackie and Alan and settled in quickly. The location is absolutely stunning, with lake views and wonderful immediate gardens and pool. Facilities include everything you could need and, even though our fridge-freezer 'konked-out' on the first day, we had a temporary replacement provided immediately, until the shops opened on Monday, and new one could be purchased. Nothing was too much trouble and nothing could get in the way of us having a fantastic time by the lovely heated pool, or out and about seeing the wonderful towns and sights nearby. Thank you Jackie and Alan for a wonderful holiday.
We wish you all the best.
If I could i would come every year. The scenery is lovely and tranquil for a great relaxing family holiday. The pool area is ideal for the kids to have fun and equipped for me to relax in the sun, while they burn off some energy. I love the walk around the adjoining lake to the quaint little village for the morning bread. The kids had lots of places to explore off on their own in the safe, secluded, scenic land. Thank you for making us feel welcome.. Again.
I took so many photos it was difficult to choose. Beautiful place with a great pool, only shared with two other cottages so had it mostly to ourselves. A peaceful place to stay with the family.

We had such a lovely stay at Kerhotten. Our family (two adults and two small children) shared Chestnut Cottage with another family (two adults and two small children) for a friend's wedding, and it was the perfect size. The location by the lake was beautiful and we even went swimming in the pool a couple of times. What a lovely region of France. Thank you Jackie for an amazing week away. Maddie, Doug, Callum & Freya Sinclair xoxo
We found the location idyllic - off the beaten track, quiet and tranquil and with a beautiful view from the garden over the nearby lake. The Farmhouse was clean, exceedingly well equipped and very spacious - ideal with two young boys in our group! Ideas and suggestions for visits (within the folder in the Farmhouse) helped in our choices of areas to explore and the recommendation of the Pizzeria in the village was totally justified! The pool was cold, but on the few occasions we used it (the weather was not always favourable), we did manage to acclimatise! Any queries we had were easily resolved by those on site. All 3 generations of our family had a great holiday. Many thanks!
Stayed in the Granary cottage which is 1 of 4 cottages available to rent, set in a stunning part of the countryside with a view over the lake. All cottages are well maintained to a high standard, with wildlife (deer etc) very evident all around the area. A 15 min stroll around the lake brings you to Langoelan village where there's an English run Pizzaria and a Bistro that opens a few night through the week. A 1.5hr to 2hr drive will see at one of the many beaches, Pontivy the nearest town is approximately 30 mins drive. The roads in France are very good so driving journey soon pass quickly. Would recommend a stay here as the perfect way to unwind.
Wayner from Rotherham
Beautiful and tranquil surroundings bursting with wildlife.
Lovely cottage that is well equipped and maintained.
Centrally located so a lot of interesting places and coastline no longer than a 2 hour easy drive.
We had a really lovely, peaceful stay at the Granary in Kerhotten, Langoelan. The setting was stunning with beautiful views over the lake and the surrounding farmlands. We traveled with two small children and a teenager and found the rustic accommodation to be a good size for us and well equipped. We couldn't keep the kids out of the pool and we all appreciated it after a hot day. The pool was clean and maintained daily. The little village is a short stroll around the lake which has various playground and exercise equipment dispersed along the path. While there isn't much in the village (the only shop is closed by 12:30), Guemene is only a short drive away and a pretty town to explore and Pontivy and Roestrenen are both an easy drive if you need something a little livelier. Bikes would be ideal to explore the larger area - it would be worth bringing bikes another time. The only drawback (for our teenager) was the limited wifi - for the rest of us this was actually a bonus. All in all we got just what we were looking for - we wanted a beautiful location where we could spend some quality family time, and that is exactly what we got.
A lovely peaceful place. All we could hear was birdsong. House spacious, comfortable and well equipped. Bedroom overlooking lake very restful. We had two teens with us and WiFi was invaluable. We also watched videos (supplied in house), played cards and lit big fires in stove at night. Pool great fun and in sunny spot. Perfect spot for quiet lazy holiday. Would be great for larger family group taking 2 or more houses.
Dear Garry and Jackie ( and Alan) Thank you so much for such a memorable few days in the most beautiful location! You have made us really welcome which we appreciated. High lights have been seeing the vole on the lake edge and all the other wild life.
The weather has been sunny everyday although cooler in the evenings.
We enjoyed visiting Carnac, Pontivy and Josselin; the Chateau de Josselin is well worth a visit. Also the Lac de Guerladan and the canal walks is recommended.
Thank you again.
Wishing you every blessing for the future.
Tim and Veronica
Fantastic space and character with lush green surrounding. Our 3 boys enjoyed the pool and playing football in the gardens, thank you!The weather was inconsistence and got in got in the way of some of our plans to spend more time outside, butt hen in these parts you can never relay on the weather! however we did manage to visit some main tourist areas such as Carnac beach and Quimper ( both about 1.5 drive away)Just to mention that if you are planning on going to a public swimming pool then be armed with a swimming cap and Speedo's both are essentials in France.
Wishing you all the best for the future
Liz, Darren and the boys
Thoroughly enjoyed our second visit here. Lovely setting enhanced by lovely weather. Very comfortable accommodation.
Thank you very much .
1st August 2014
This lovely old property has been perfect holiday accommodation for Grandparents, Daughter and Family. So well equipped and a lovely welcome with nothing being too much trouble providing travel cot and high chair, loots of walks around the lake with 5 year old Finn on his scooter and Brooke (almost 2) toddling along. With a visit to Carnac and local villages, lots of swimming in the pool but it all went too quickly.
Many thanks the Brooks
Had a very relaxing and peaceful 2 weeks at Kerhotten. Beautiful location, enjoyed wandering around the lake and were lucky enough to stop the otter coming out from the island about 9pm. Had a great day at St Nicolas des emux, good choice of restaurants and circular walks. Have been cycling at the Nantes Brest canal and river Blauer, We had a couple of days at the coast in Carnac, Benodet and Ille Tudy, all recommended.
We did not expect such a beautiful place when we planed our trip to Brittany. What a charming house, what a wonderful lake with a short and nice way to the Mairie. Thank you for the nice welcome at our arrival and the care throughout the week. We, our kids enjoyed the pool and the trips to the nearby villages and hot spots.
Thanks so much
Susan, Joe, Emma and Fin Bolin
This entry concludes a wonderful two weeks holiday, the pool was well used even when it was raining. We have thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Brittany and would hope to return at some point. The Farmhouse is very comfortable and has provided us with an ideal base for visiting the area. We have enjoyed the peace and tranquility, while visiting many the of the local towns when feeling the need to explore. We have visited Pontivy, Vannes, pont-Louis, Jossalin, and Quibron.
Now sadly it is time to go home.
Thanks for everything
Paul, Viv, Joseph, Dominic, Stuart and Maggie
We loved the grounds and walks around the lake and this well equipped house with Jackie all the time making sure everything was ok.
The Bistro in the village did us proud twice with the menu adjour at 12.80€ otherwise we had a picnic and cooked here in the evenings.
Highlights:- otters on the lake, the Bistro, Concarnu, pont Avon, Guemene
Our highlights:- Having Granddad to help so we had some sleep! enjoyed time just playing in the garden, no passing traffic, no barking dogs. Shame we left on the day of the big family fishing event on the lake.
Thank you everyone
Chris and Carolyn Goodwin with their 10 month old twins along with Grandma and Granddad
Chestnut is a beautiful & spacious holiday cottage that provided everything we wanted.
We were a party of 7 adults and a baby and we all had a wonderful stay. We enjoyed the pool, gardens and walks around the lake and into the village.
The large intermarche 15 minutes drive away had everything we needed.
Jackie was a great help in providing all he information we needed prior to the holiday and we were well looked after during our stay by Steve who popped by every day.
I would highly recommend his cottage for a quiet stay in a delightful setting.

“Idyllic Retreat In Rural Brittany”The Gilmour's
Great holiday property in rural Brittany. Owners live on site in a neighboring property and were a great help with information, but never imposing. Pool very cold at the end of May but I imagine it would be a real asset in mid summer. This property is in mid Brittany approximately an hour from the coast in any direction but easily accessible to drive from all ferry ports. The countryside around is stunning with plenty of historic towns and villages to visit nearby. This is also an area great for cycling if you enjoy getting out and about by bike. Came home completely relaxed and refreshed which is what a holiday is about I guess.
My wife, daughter and I had a great stay at Kerhotten Cottages. The location overlooking Lac du Dor is really wonderful and very peaceful. The weather during our visit was also great which meant we were able to take full advantage of the well equipped pool area. We also enjoyed walking down to the lake every evening and being able to fish until dusk. The beaches at Carnac are a short drive away and well worth a visit on sunny days. The owners Jackie and Gary were very friendly and also very helpful with information on local attractions.
Thanks very much for a very enjoyable stay.

We spent the most fantastic week at Kerhotten in August in the Granary , The children just loved it ! big ones were fishing and little ones in the pool most of the time.Very relaxed week away from london. Jackie & Garry were perfect hosts. would highly recommend !!

Lovely spacious accommodation. Fantastic tranquil location surrounded by wildlife. Great area for cycling with extremely quiet roads. Beaches in the L' Armour Plage area were excellent - approx. 50 min drive away. Kayaking on Lac Guerleven was fun. Crepes at Creperie Rohan in Guermene sur Scorff excellent!
A beautiful location with excellent accomodation. You can feel the peace with no traffic noise just the odd bird call. Jackie & Garry are excellent hosts and make you feel at home as soon as you arrive. We'll be back!!!

Really enjoyed our stay in the Farmhouse with family. Plenty of room and beautiful setting. Very cold in house to start with but warmed up lovely when heating on and logs burning. Would definitely recommend.

We have been coming to France for over 30 years and the cottage is one of the best we have stayed at. Its situation is perfect and the gardens are well tended. The Farmhouse is tastefully decorated and furnished to a high standard with everything you need. It is spacious but still cosy. We were warmly welcomed by Jackie and Gary who were very friendly and helpful.
Brian & Rosemary Whitehead
Lovely peaceful location with all the facilities you could possibly need for a relaxing holiday. Thanks to Jackie and Garry for their hospitality and for providing such comfortable accommodation
We enjoyed our stay at Willow Cottage. The cottage was very comfortable and was equipped with everything we needed. Kerhotten was very tranquil and relaxing and the views over the lake were lovely. Our son enjoyed the swimming pool and made friends with the children staying in the other cottages. Thank you to Jackie and Garry who were welcoming and helpful.
Had a really superb holiday with our 3 children aged 20,19 and 16 staying at the Farmhouse. Accommodation was first class and Jackie and Garry were particularly helpful with the advice they gave us to ensure a truly relaxing holiday. Weather was great and the location of Kerhotten is stunning.
Best wishes from Mark and Gaynor Selwyn

Lovely peaceful week, great accommodation in a perfect setting. Garry looked after us very well and works so hard to keep the grounds looking beautiful. Many places within an hours drive to visit when the weather not too great, but no need to go any where when the sun is shinning.

Chestnut cottage was very nice to stay in, which was for some days due to the unfortunate weather. Gary and Jackie, thanks very much for everything, very helpful and welcoming and your grounds are very nice. We managed to get some great food, a couple of good days out and caught a few nice trout for dinner down at the lake. Despite the weather to had a great time.

Kerhotten is the most beautiful place, we have enjoyed every minute of our holiday here, so relaxing and peaceful. Our three children loved the pool, the weather was good and sunny. Garry and Jackie proved to be the perfect hosts there when ever you need them with out being felt watched over, a mine of useful information also.
This has to be one of Frances best kept secrets, fantastic area, great people and good food, quiet roads.
Thanks v much Garry and Jackie

Despite six of our seven days being cool, wet and gray we have enjoyed our stay at the Willow cottage. If you like a Hyper rather than a super market then Lederic at pontivy is excellent – with v cheap fuel too. We visited Auray, Vannes, Kerguehennet, Pontivy, La Faouet, Guemene, Bon Repos, Lac de Guerledan and even in the rain they very charming. Our only regret was we didn't’t get to use the pool – maybe next time.
Russ and Anne
We have enjoyed our holiday in Kerhotten cottages, beautiful setting and stunning scenery, the view from the bench at the Willow will stay in our minds – it is so calming.
Many thanks from Jeanette and peter Kelly, and for the plants
We have had a wonderful week in such a tranquil spot. Visited lots of places, highly recommended Concarneau, a beautiful town. The Granite coast was also a lovely day out. We were quite lucky with the weather and had some good times in and around the pool.

We had a really good time at Kerhotten. It was peacefully, beautiful and well placed for the things we wanted to visit and do. Jackie and Garry were perfect hosts and helped us with directions and advice, which was invaluable.
This was our first visit to France and we could not have chosen a more perfect location. Kerhotten is practically in the center of Brittany and is therefore ideal for exploring. Chestnut Cottage was perfect for our large family of 8 very clean, comfortable and well stocked for our needs. The location was quiet and peaceful and the swimming pool was a real treat! Wish we could have stayed longer.

Kerhotten is a find. We’ve had a very relaxing week and enjoyed being here at the Farmhouse so much and visiting the surroundings. It’s been great having so beautiful lake on our doorstop and playground for the children we’ve also enjoyed the evening meals at La Florentine pizzeria in the village. Garry and Jackie have been excellent hosts, providing useful local info and a relaxing environment for us. The gardens are beautifully well tended too.

We enjoyed a half – term break with children and grand children. Weather started off poor with fine rain and cold, but brightened up towards the end of the week to blazing sunshine. We enjoyed the pool, walks round the lake and longer trips to Vannes and Lamor Pelage. The children enjoined the beach on Lac du Guerledan for a shorter trip. Jackie and Garry, helpful as always. Local shop in Langoelan is open on Sunday, but supermarkets etc shut, so food planning is necessary, especially on arrival.
Overall a beautiful and peaceful spot.

Lovely week, Garry & Jackie so very helpful. Weather not so good but didn't’t detract from very relaxing week. Zoo at Point Scorff well worth a visit as was Les Aquatides at Loudeac. For a very special meal visit Restaurant Le Seqvoia, Auborge de Pont Caueck. (Ask Garry for vague directions!!) a very French experience. Definitely not fast food. Kids loved the pool and walks around the lake with slide etc. Would come back tomorrow but work doesn't permit! Brilliant week, had a lovely time even though weather was a bit dodgy, great place for kids, so well equipped for them and a lovely place to relax, will definitely come back!
Emma and I have enjoyed one of the most memorable holiday for some time. The acid test is however, is always what the children say, my eldest son (9) says that Garry and Jackie are “the nicest people he has met” and that sums things up. Excellent hosts in a superb environment. To be able to enjoy the character of these buildings in such an outstanding setting is a rare treat. Couple that with all that the surroundings area has to after makes any trip here a unique experience. We have had close encounters with deer, frogs, fish and birds of prey to name a small selection of the areas rich wildlife. We will not hesitate to recommend Kerhotten to anyone looking to sample the very best of Brittany.
